How To Measure YouTube Success with Analytics PRO
Yesterday, we officially added YouTube to our Analytics PRO dashboard. Discover which metrics can help you analyze your YouTube performance and create viral videos!
With YouTube on board, we now analyze and monitor three major social media networks including Facebook and Twitter. This “dream package” will provide you with valuable data an insights into your social media performance according to which you can adjust your social marketing strategy effectively. If you are already familiar with our Analytics PRO dashboard, you won´t be surprised by the YouTube metrics. They are very similar to the Facebook and Twitter metrics; let’s look at them in more detail.
To show you how YouTube Analytics work and how they can help you detect your brand’s most viral content, we prepared a case study with successful YouTube brand Red Bull. The following metrics will show you Red Bull’s performance in the period of May 10 to May 30, 2012.
YouTube Metrics:
- Uploaded Video Views
- Subscribers
- Total Time Viewed
- Total Like/ Dislike Ratio and growth
- Channel Engagement Rate
- Channel View Rate
- Number of Videos
Total Uploaded Video Views = the total number of Video Views of the channel. It also displays the difference between the first day and the last day in your selected time range.

Uploaded Video Views Growth = the daily number of Video Views for the whole channel. Monitor the maximum, minimum and average change of views for the selected time range!

Total Subscribers = the total number of your channel´s subscribers. Check out the difference between the first day and the last day in your selected time range.

Total Subscribers Growth = gain control over the daily growth/ loss of the subscribers of the channel by receiving graphs for the maximum, minimum and average changes in the selected time period.

Total Time Viewed = measures the overall time users spend watching videos in the channel. For example if a channel has 5 videos and each video has 20 seconds, the Total Time Viewed would be 100 seconds. It also measures the difference between the first day and the last day in your selected time range.

Total Time Viewed Growth = expresses the daily growth of the Time Viewed metric for the whole channel considering the maximum, minimum and average change in the selected time range.

Total Channel Like/ Dislike Ratio = see how many Likes and Dislikes each channel has. It´s calculated as the sum of all Likes and Dislikes of each video in the channel and expressed as a percent ratio. This metric enables you to detect the channel´s best and worst ratios as well as the average ratio for the selected time range.
Evolution of Channel Like/ Dislike Ratio = see how the Like/ Dislike ratio evolves over time.

Channel Like/ Dislike Ratio Growth Absolute = the daily absolute value of Likes and Dislikes for the whole channel. Monitor the maximum, minimum and average change of the Like/ Dislike Ratio for the selected time range (when and how much).

Channel Like/ Dislike Ratio Growth Relative = same as the previous but in relative numbers (the growth is expressed in %). This metric will give you a better overview of the Like/ Dislike Growth Ratio day by day.
Channel Engagement Rate = this is calculated through a special YouTube Engagement Rate formula for the given day. The total number of Likes, Dislikes and Comments to all the videos in the channel are added up and divided by the total number of the channel subscribers (in the selected time range). It also delivers the average Channel Engagement Rate and the total number of interactions.

Channel View Rate = this metric is calculated according to the special YouTube View Rate Formula. The total number of Likes, Dislikes and Comments to all the videos in the channel are added up and divided by the total number of views (in the selected time range). It also delivers the average Channel View Rate and the total number of interactions.

Total Videos = this metric doesn’t only inform you about the total number of videos in the channel. It can also measure the average video growth per day and the maximum growth of new videos for the selected time range that interests you.
