Imagine you have something very important to share with your fans – a special offer, an event or perhaps a seasonal discount and you want to make sure that it reaches as much fans as possible to convert your fans into customers and generate sales!
But how can you make sure that your post won’t get lost in the 3.2 billion stories flowing through the News feeds every day? With over 900 million Facebook users, the News feeds are crowded and the reach of your Page post is limited because Facebook wants to preserve the user experience.
Promoted Posts With a Viral Reach
That´s why Facebook came up with Promoted Posts which can maximize the reach of your posts to even more fans and friends of your fans. This new feature is available for Pages that have a minimum of 400 and a maximum of 100 thousand Likes for now.
When you promote a post, it will be shown in the News feeds of more of the people who like your Page than you would reach normally and friends of the people who have interacted with your post will also more likely see your story. The Promoted Posts are visible for 3 days from the day you create them and you have the possibility to pause and resume the promotion with the post still being visible.
How To Promote a Post
Just click on the Promote button in the right bottom corner of your post. To see this button, you have to have at least 400 fans and less than 100 thousand fans as mentioned.
Click on it and you will see an offer of available budgets for your Page and the estimated number of fans you should reach with it. The budget will differ according to the size of your Page, so smaller ones could feel disadvantaged. The price varies from $5.00 to $300.00. Sometimes you won´t reach the estimated number of fans, in that case you should contact Facebook with your feedback. The whole feature is in the testing phase, so they are open to discussions and ideas.
How Promoted Posts Look Like
Promoted Posts will appear in the News feeds and mobile News feeds just like any other post – the only difference is that they will have a small grey word “sponsored” under them. They obey the rules of the News feed so if someone has hidden your stories, he will not see them. And Promoted posts will not be shown in the right-hand column of Facebook, where ads and sponsored stories are displayed.
Evaluate Your Results
View the results of your promoted post in the drop-down from the “Promote” button at the bottom of the promoted post. And click on the numbers of reached fans at the bottom left of the post to view how your reach was organic, viral or paid.
